Connecting your first bank takes about two minutes, and the first connection is free. Here is the whole flow, including what happens after you connect.
The steps
- Open BooCoo. Until you connect something, the Overview tab shows a No Bank Accounts card with a Connect Bank button.
- Open the Add Account screen. Tap Connect Bank, or go to the More tab, then Accounts, then the plus button. Either route lands on Add Account or Asset.
- Pick how you want to connect. Connect Bank Account links your bank through Plaid. You can also connect Apple Card, Apple Cash and Apple Savings through Apple FinanceKit, add a personal asset such as a house or a car, or create an institution and enter its accounts by hand.
- Sign in inside Plaid's secure window. Plaid connects more than 12,000 banks and credit unions. Search for your bank and sign in there. Your bank login goes to Plaid, never to BooCoo, and BooCoo gets secure read-only access.
- Let it load. Your recent transactions appear first. Up to two years of history fills in behind them, typically within a few minutes. Larger accounts can take longer. You can keep using the app while it loads.
What happens next
Once there is enough data, your Vitals Score appears on the Overview tab. One number. Your whole financial picture. From here there is nothing to maintain: no budgets to build, no envelopes to fill, no homework. BooCoo watches your trends automatically and you check in whenever you want to know how you're doing.
Where your data lives
Your financial data lives on your device and in your iCloud. Not ours. BooCoo cannot identify you: no email, no name, no login. We make money from subscriptions. There is nothing else to sell.
Common questions
Is the first connection really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no credit card, and nothing to cancel, because the first connection isn't a trial. It's just free. If you later want to connect more institutions, paid plans start at $4.99 a month.
My bank isn't listed. What now?
You can import a statement instead. BooCoo reads OFX, QFX, and CSV files from any bank that lets you export history, including old Mint exports. You can also add accounts by hand.
Do Apple Card and Apple Cash work?
Yes, and they don't use a connection. Apple Card, Apple Cash, and Apple Savings connect through Apple's own FinanceKit at no cost.
